What is G-Code?

G-code is a collection of codes that are part of a numerical control or NC programming language. The Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA) developed the earliest versions of this type of NC coding during the 1960’s. A version of this code adopted in February 1980, and known as RS274D, is the standard in the United States and various other countries around the world. In Europe it is common to use a different standard, known as DIN 66025.

What are Post-Processors?

CNC machines from various manufacturers often require codes and program sequences unique to each machine.

To support the differences between the machines, Metrolosys will:
A) generate a generic description of the task to perform, and then
B) a specialized program, called a Post-Processor, is used to convert the generic description into the particular codes and sequences required for the CNC machine to be used.

  • Haas
  • Mazak Fusion
  • MDSI
  • Okuma
  • Seimens 840

The list to the left is only a partial list.

Your machine may already have a Post-Processor available.

Otherwise, a post can be created to fit the needs of your machine.
